The program was attractive not only for researchers and weed scientists but also for private and national advisors as well as officials from the Ministry of Agriculture. The audience was very international with participants from Serbia, Hungary, Moldavia, the Czech Republic, the USA, Turkey, Macedonia and Germany.
The program particularly focused on the growing issue of herbicide resistance in Serbia. This event was also an opportunity to present the Serbian 'Diversity Is The Future' initiative in order to raise awareness among all stakeholders in the value chain of the need to proactively adopt Integrated Weed Management principles. Bayer in Serbia is proactively working with farmers to ensure a sustainable weed control approach by adapting these principles to local cropping systems and combining products and services. In this they are being supported by scientific expertise from the Weed Resistance Competence Center in Frankfurt. A broader launch of the IWM initiative is already programmed for February 2017.
